You are your child’s most important teacher

Here at the Rocking Horse we know that parents/carers are a child’s first and most important teachers. We strive to provide as a close a partnership as possible so that you and your child gain the maximum benefit from the education and care we offer. Parental involvement and contribution is welcomed and supported, and parents can spend time in the school with their children, especially when settling in.

We offer:

  • Open evenings throughout the year to help parents in their understanding of what the child is learning
  • Detailed records of the progress of each individual child in their own ‘Learning Journey’ and hold regular parents meetings which will give parents the opportunity to meet staff and discuss the progress of their own child. We also provide final progress reports for children leaving the nursery
  • Regular newsletters to keep parents updated on nursery plans and events and to enable you to feel involved
  • Home visits from our staff for all new children to allow both staff and child to get to know each other in a comfortable environment
  • Settling in sessions for new children where parents are welcome
